Curtis Cuffie

NYFA Fellow

"In the tradition of rural southern yard shows, bottle trees, and decorated graves turned urban, I have made art in the streets of the East Village since the late '80s. I make sculpture for space that needs life. You've got to be very deeply concerned about your creation. Not just what you make of your art, but how it affects others. Art to me is about showing people the beauty of life. I'm a Taurus, and Tauruses love beauty."
